Pleno is trying to replace PCR tests. With a Hypercoding technology, that has little public information & founded in 2017 by Pieter van Rooyen who sold Edico to Illumina for ~$100M, Pleno is building instruments & tests that can scale with the workflow/low costs of PCR.
Hypercoding might mean generating a large number of labels, probably >10K from the media announcements, to image samples in parallel. Using light field imaging or in technical terms a plenoptical camera http://www.plenoptic.info/
Pleno is taking this technology and putting it into its Raptor instrument for multiplex, high-throughput (process 384 samples per run) detection of nucleic acids. From DNA to RNA along with methylation. Guiding for an early access program in 2023 & commercial launch in 2024.
