Exscientia is one of the 1st AI-centered drug development companies. Founded in 2012 by Andrew Hopkins out of the University of Dundee, the company translated work around automating design of drug candidates w/ the premise to build models centered around human data.
Their platform automates various processes focused on indications where there may be a genetic cause or known MoA. With the overarching goal to lower the cost to do an experiment & enable more innovation. The pipeline is still early with 2 clinical candidates targeting PKC & A2A.
Exscientia’s network business model is influenced by Hopkins’ unique career starting at Pfizer then going back to academia & then making the full loop by going back to industry before starting Exscientia. The company has a diverse set of partnerships w/ Sanofi, Bayer among others.
