Aldevron is the leader for custom plasmid DNA. Based in Fargo, ND (look how cold it looks in the picture) and started from a college senior thesis, the company focuses on high quality and low costs. A model that would only really work in Fargo.

Founded in 1998 by Michael Chambers (recent college grad from NDSU) & John Ballantyne (NDSU PhD), Aldveron was initially funded with credit cards. After supplying their 1st customer in Puerto Rico with 250 mg of plasmid for vaccine research, Aldveron used the Internet to grow.
From this base, the company has expanded to RNA, antibodies, and supplying the DNA template for Moderna’s COVID vaccine. Aldveron’s model can trace its roots from Michael’s experience in the family honey business with values of frugality, hard work, and solving your own problems.
